President’s Tan Talk –  May 2018

160 runners and walkers attended the May Tan Time Trial, including 40 members of Inclusive Sports Training, who join us once a year to enjoy the run and push themselves to do their very best, which they did.
We love having them join us, with all their energy and enthusiasm.
Congratulations were extended to Melissa Sirianni and Vin Martin on becoming VRR Life Members.
Melissa has done a great job transporting our equipment to and from all our runs, without which we couldn’t do what we do.
Vin Martin has played a number of valued roles, including editing Stride Out, organising our annual writer’s award and managing the club’s Facebook page.
Well earned acknowledgement to Melissa and Vin.
I advised all present that the 31st Angela Taylor Memorial Run and Walk on the previous Sunday had been a huge success with almost 700 runners and walkers participating, the biggest attendance for many years.
VRR member Bonnie Morris won the Women’s 5k Run.
Bill Noonan’s family featured strongly in the placing’s, with three awards over two generations.
Bill was one of the founders of the run, and we are proud to have organised the run over all those years, with the support of our VRR members, in partnership with the Victorian Police Blue Ribbon Foundation.
It was a great morning for a run, and there were a few ‘RPB’s’, meaning ‘Recent Personal Bests’.
Well done to those who shaved back their times, good work!!
