President’s Tan Talk – May 2025
It was a cold, clear morning for the May Tan Time Trial, ideal for running, with a good turnout of VRR members and friends. (Clearly all those attending had already voted or were going to vote later in the day because we were all at the Tan when the polls opened!)
Congratulations to Paul Trickey on 150 Tan Time Trials, a great milestone achievement, well done Paul.
I reported on another successful Angela Taylor Memorial Run / Walk on 13 April, with more than 800 runners and walkers. Thanks to the twelve VRR members (see photo below) who marshalled the event, much appreciated. This was our 36th Angela Taylor event since we kicked it off in 1989.
Caps update. The new VRR caps, in both ‘blue on white’ and ‘white on blue’ will be delivered in the next few days and available at the June Tan Time Trial. A reminder that one way to earn a cap is to run two Tans between April, May and June, so if you’ve run one, running the June TTT will earn you a cap.
HELP!! Sally Browne will be travelling around Australia over July, August and September, so we need some help with organising our tea, coffee and biscuits while Sally is away. That would involve bringing the required items to the Tan, and then making it happen on the day. We have one member who has already volunteered to help, but it would be great to share the load a bit. Please contact me if you can assist. (0411 191 115).
Have a great month, see you in June,
Michael |

In April the annual Angela Taylor fun run/walk was held around Albert Park Lake in support of the Police Blue Ribbon Foundation.
Since the inception of this event, which honours police officer, Angela Taylor, who was tragically killed in the Russell Street bombing of 1986, VRR have provided volunteers to assist in the administration of this run/walk. |

Can you ask your running friends if they are receiving their email copy of Stride Out.
If they aren’t, can you get them to send me an email (gprossor@bigpond.net.au) asking to be put on the distribution list. |
