President’s Tan Talk – December 2023
|

| For the final Tan Time Trial of 2023 we were again delighted to welcome a significant number of runners from Inclusive Sports Training, and we had an additional three Tan first-timers. It was also great to see 200 Tan Time Trial runner Brian Kelly visiting us from Wollongong, where he has lived for some years.
Cynthia Ellery was congratulated on achieving 200 Tan Time Trials, well done Cynthia, and the 2023 Tan Twelve Timers were also acknowledged. (See achievement photo below)
In November a group of Victorian Road Runners (who run on Sundays at Ferny Creek) went trekking for a few days in Kosciuszko National Park. When they discovered that Jindabyne Park Run was to be held for the first time in two years they joined in and won every age group from 55 up. The photo below shows Syd, Merl, Jim, Tanya, Phil, Greig and Rob celebrating their collective success. |

| VRR Members and friends were advised that our New Year’s Eve Tan Fun Run will commence at 7:30am, and this year it is on a Sunday, so easier traffic and parking.
Our record of it almost never raining while the Tan Time Trial is happening is looking a bit shaky, it was only very fine drizzle for most runners, but the later finishers definitely got wet. Thanks to Sally Browne for providing us with a cuppa and a Tim Tam, tucked away under the trees. Big thanks too, to Graham and Peter, likewise taking shelter under the trees to keep the paper dry while recording times, well done.
We wish all VRR members a happy and safe Christmas, and look forward to seeing you on New Year’s Eve.

| VRR President, Michael has not actually run a Tan for about 30 years, but he does still run (and swim and cycle) and still competes in triathlons. His season got off to a good start with a ‘podium finish’ last week at Race 1 at Elwood. (See pic) |

The start of the December Tan Time Trial and VRR member, Luke Price (green singlet) looks like he has plenty of competition from the Inclusive Sports Training (ist) members.
VRR has welcomed ist members a couple of times this year and they are a great bunch and we love having them help swell our numbers. |

Don’t forget that the next VRR event will be the annual New Years Eve walk/run.
It will be held on Sunday 31st December.
The start time will be the usual 7.30 AM – yes in the morning !!!
The start location will be the Pillars of Wisdom (the same spot as the monthly Tan Time Trial).
Allow a little extra time for race registration for this event.
This event has the following entry fees
- Member $10
- Non Member $15
- Junior $ 5
There will be refreshments served after the run and an opportunity for plenty of post event discussion.
The January 2024 Time Trial will be held the following Saturday – the 6th January.
Start time 7.30am.
