President’s Tan Talk – June 2023

I’m not sure whether the gentle drizzle we experienced on Saturday morning would qualify as “rain”, but it was generally agreed to be a good morning for running.

We had two very significant milestone achievements. Glen Muller has now completed 250 Tan Time Trials, while Johnny Morris has now completed 350, congratulations to both, well done.

I reported that I was looking to reinstitute tea, coffee and biscuits at Tan Time trials, so that members can enjoy a cuppa and a chat after running or walking the TTT. We are inching forward on the tortuous permit approvals processes (plural) which appear to assume that we are all at risk of serious illness or death from a cuppa.

Our now very old timing clock is showing signs of age and may need replacing. I understand that the newer digital version of timing clocks are smaller and lighter and less costly to purchase. If anyone knows where to source a reliable timing clock please let me know. Obviously a search online shows a number of options but I’d like to source one that other clubs (e.g. masters etc) have used and know to be reliable and durable.

The forecast for winter is for warmer and drier weather than usual, so that bodes well for some great running weather, enjoy…

VRR Achievement Awards

Glen Muller ran his 250th TTT this month!
He was obviously aiming for a VERY fast time since he had his RED top on!
Congratulations Glenn.

A bit of wet weather wasn’t going to stop VRR Life Member, John Morris from running his 350th TTT this month.
Congratulations John.

VRR PHOTOS
Wet weather for an unhear of second month in a row wasn’t going to deter our intrepid VRR photographer, Helen Myall, from capturing all the fun.
Many photos are taken at each of our events and the one’s below are just a VERY small sample.
ALL the photos are posted on Facebook.

June TTT Photos

Start of the June TTT.

See, Patrick Herft was also keen for a FAST time as he even had RED shorts on as well!
And not to be outdone, Stephanie Armstrong was sporting a VERY FAST RED jacket.

Lynne O’Dea was opting for warmth over speed..
And here’s Trouble with a capital T – Anthony Doran & Doug Adeney – is that a bit of RED on Anthony’s footwear?

Malcolm MacKay obviously doesn’t mind getting wet or feel the cold – well done!
Dont say it!
Yes, Paul Drzewucki has a RED top on!
All these very experienced runners can’t be wrong.

Definitely warmth & comfort over speed here, with Marianne Martin & Catherine Morey-Nase but that’s what VRR is all about.
You can race as hard as you like or you can enjoy a Saturday walk in one of the best locations in the world..
