President’s Tan Talk – March 2026
On a cool, clear autumn morning the mood was celebratory as we celebrated milestone achievements that totaled 700 Tan Time Trials.
Jenny Kisler and Dean Andrews both completed 200 Tan Time Trials. In Jenny’s case a fair number of those, years ago, involved pushing son Evan around the Tan when he was in a pusher as a very young participant, then moving at a gentle pace in his earliest days as he moved beyond the pusher. Well done to Jenny and to Dean.
Having joined VRR soon after the Sydney Olympics in 2000 Ken Miller completed 300 Tan Time Trials, having been a very regular Tan Time Trialer, apart when illness caused a break. Ken has an interest in history in many forms and a good memory, and is always up for a chat. Well done Ken on a big milestone achievement.
At the other end of the spectrum we had a couple of first-timers, one a visitor from Germany in Australia, here for a few weeks to visit family, the other a South Yarra resident who stopped for a chat and joined in to run his first TTT.
VRR Members are advised that our Annual General Meeting will be held immediately after the April Tan Time Trial, see information set out below. Our AGM is a legal requirement, but it will take only a few minutes. See you in April,
Michael

March 2026 Achievement Awards
With the VRR Achievement Awards, it never rains but it pours!
We have had no achievements recognised recently and then this month there are three! |
| Congratulations, Jenny Kisler, on an amazing 200 TTT’s |
| And ALSO, congratulations to Dean Andrews on achieving 200 TTT’s too. |
| And if two people achieving 200 TTT’s on the one day isn’t enough, congratulations, Ken Miller on achieving 300 TTT’s. |
| The photos below are just a few of the ones posted on facebook by the club photographer, Helen Myall (thanks heaps, Helen) |

Start of the March 2026 TTT
(about 65 participants in total) |
It was great to see VRR member, Patrick Herft at the March TTT.
Patrick is a director at one of the Park Runs, and as they have an event every week, you can understand that responsibility chews up a lot of his time. Luckily for us,he needs a break once in a while. |
VRR member, Karen Monahan is a keen AFL Melbourne Demons supporter, so she’s always very welcome at the results chairs. |
| First time visitor to VRR was, Phil Gao. We certainly hope to see him again. |
| Another VRR visitor (but not a first timer) is Janine Stray. Another one that we’d love to see regularly. |
| VRR member, Leigh Fatchen knows how to get over the ‘dog leg’ mountain climb! |
| VRR member, Keith Partridge is at that stage of his life where sometimes family responsibilities prevent him from getting along to every TTT, but he’s always super welcome when he can. |
The great thing about the TTT is that it can be anything that you want – a hard race or a more relaxed walk around the magnificent Tan or anything in between.
Here, Kim Owens (L) and Liz Wrigley (R) take the opportunity for a ‘catch up’. |

Member Offer
Hello Victorian Road Runners,
We’re reaching out from Jetset Pilates Glen Iris, just by Gardiner Station, to see if we can support your runners off the road as well as on it.Many of our members are runners themselves, and we see firsthand how Pilates can help with core strength, hip stability, mobility, and injury prevention – all things that directly benefit running performance and recovery.
We’d love to offer Victorian Road Runners members a complimentary Jetset Pilates class, tailored specifically for runners. The session would be:
- Completely beginner-friendly
- Focused on strengthening key running muscles
- Designed to help your members feel stronger, more balanced, and more resilient in their training
Our aim is simply to introduce your members to a form of cross-training that genuinely supports their running – no pressure, just added value.
If this sounds like something your runners would enjoy, we’d love to chat and see what works best for your community 🙂
Warm regards,
Jetset Pilates Glen Iris Team
